21 goals were scored on the second day of the inaugural MSL match played across the state

Shillong, December 18: Twenty-one goals were scored on the second day of the inaugural Meghalaya State League over the course of six matches played across the state on Monday.

The most fascinating contest on the day was arguably between Group C’s Mawten and Madan Bynther, which the former won 4-2.

Mawten took a two-goal lead in the afternoon fixture through C Syiemlieh (10th minute) and W Iawphniaw (40th) before Madan Bynther clawed to their way back to equalise proceedings, first through a goal by B Nongrang (45+1) and then K Dkhar (57th).

Mawten were not done, however, with O Iawphniaw’s brace in the 65th and 77th minutes giving them the full three points.

In the earlier match in Mairang, Tynrong edged Pyndengrei 1-0 with a second half goal by E Dkhar (53rd).

The other games were more one-sided, with Rangdajied United defeating Pyndem Umbri 4-0 in Group B at Bhoirymbong. Andy Mawthoh (42nd, 74th) recorded a brace, while James Moga (33rd) and Stephan Harry (45th) added a goal each.

Meanwhile, in Jowai, Raliang beat Umlatkhur 3-0 in Group A’s first fixture, with Niaw Wasa then defeating Umkiang 4-0 in the afternoon.

Finally, in Group D, Resu Conventus eased past Warima 3-0, while Druma Sandruma received a walkover against A’tong Matgrik.
