Shillong, march 09: A team of doctors headed by Dr. BhaskarBorgohain, HOD Orthopaedics operated upon a 6 year old child from Bangladesh on the 17th February, 2020.
The child was suffering from a very rare skeletal dysplasia called Trevor’s Disease Dysplasia Epiphysealis Hemimelica.
While giving a brief to the Director NEIGRIHMS, Prof. (Dr.) BhaskarBorgohain said that the child had a tumour like Exophytic mass (lying critically close to the popliteal vessel and nerves), which was mechanically restricting his knee movement.
The tumour like mass was successfully excised through the cleavage line delineated by MRI before surgery. The child who had come to NEIGRIHMS on Medical Visa has uneventful recovery.
