A committee was form to talk with the NGOs for cutting of trees from Council forest: CEM  

Tura, Dec 16: The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC)  Mr Dipul R Marak said that a committee was constituted to call the NGOs for talk on the issued for cutting of trees from the council reserved forest in Garo Hills.

Speaking to SP News Agency, Mr Dipul said that, the executive committee has taken this decision to cut down mature trees from the Council reserved forest to meet the finical crunch that the GHADC is facing at present.

The CEM of the GHADC said that the Council has more than 5000 mature trees, out of this the council has decided to cut down only 800 trees only to raise found around four cores to meet the requirement of the council to pay the salary of the employees.

The Committee will call the NGOs for talk within a day or two to explain to them the purpose of the Council to auction few hundred trees from the council reserved forest. The committee will call the NGOs may be tomorrow or day after tomorrow for talk.
