Across Meghalaya the fourth Yoga International Day observed with enthusiasm

Shillong, June 21: Across Meghalaya the fourth Yoga   International Day observed with enthusiasm at Headquarters Eastern Air Command, Upper Shillong on Thursday, 21 June 2018.  The event was inaugurated by Air Marshal Rajesh Kumar VM,  Senior Air Staff Officer, Eastern Air Command. Senior officers, air warriors and all the personnel from Military Engineering Service and civilians residing in HQ EAC campus along with their families participated in the event.

A yoga demonstration by the trained Air Force Ground Training Instructors was held while all attendees practised various yoga asanas.  The hour long programme was attended by over 400 participants of different age groups and walks of life.  The students and staff of Kendriya Vidyalaya as well as Air Force School, Upper Shillong also participated in the International Yoga Day events in their respective school campuses.

During the course of yoga demonstration and practice session, the experts explained how yoga ensures unity of mind and body, thought and action, restraint and fulfilment, harmony between man and nature.  All participants were very enthusiastic about understanding the importance and benefits of yoga.

The celebration of the 4th International Day of Yoga at Laban Sports Club, Shillong on 21st June, 2018 wherein Health & Family Welfare Minister, Shri A. L. Hek was the Chief Guest. The programme was organized by the Office of the Director of Ayush, Government of Meghalaya.

As in other parts of the country, International Yoga day  was celebrated in NEIGRIHMS today at 7.00am. Director NEIAH Prof(Dr) P K Goswami  was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Faculty, students and employees of NEIGRIHMS participated in the yoga session. The yoga instructor Mr.Soram Chinglen taught various Yoga Asanas to the participants. A yoga lab in the Department of Physiology was inaugurated by Chief Guest in presence of I/C Director Prof (Dr)A C Phukan and Dr. Ritupurna on the occasion .

To mark the Fourth International Yoga Day (IYD), the Border Security Force organized Yoga Camps at FTR HQr, BSF campus and its under command Sectors and Units in which more than 3000 men in uniform including Officers and Jawans observed the International Yoga Day along with international community all along the International border of Meghalaya as well as its Headquarters at Umpling Campus Shillong with full zeal and enthusiasm.
