AJYWO demands from GRIL for immediate correction of wrong spellings of places on NH-6

Shillong, May 30: The AJYWO Central Body expresses unhappiness over the adamant attitude of the GR Infra Ltd for not rectifying the spelling mistakes of many of the residential areas and locations, etc. on many of the signboards installed along NH-6.

The AJYWO Central Body President, M H Dkhar said “Recently, on the 23rd March, 2018, the AJYWO had lodged a complaint on the unacceptable inscriptions of places and localities on the signboards erected by GR Infra Ltd along NH-6 due to wrong spellings with the Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills District, Shri M S Lhuid, IAS, demanding for immediate correction of the same, so as not to hurt the sentiments of the indigenous people of Jaintia Hills and also to avoid misguiding of commuters along the NH-6, to which the DC of EJHD immediately had acted on the said complaint by instructing the said company to rectify the same but till date the GRIL had not paid its attention toward the said instruction and complaint of the organisation”.

“Notwithstanding, the correcting of the said wrong spellings of places and locations on the signboards of NH-6, surprisingly, the same were painted with black colour paint, that looked so odd  and  spoiled the beauty of the NH-6, besides hurting the sentiments of the local indigenous people for not rectifying the said mistakes” Bah M H Dkhar  expressed in the press note.

Mr M H Dkhar poses a question to the GRIL, “When the mistakes on the name of the National Highway as inscribed previously by the company as “NH-44” instead of its new nomenclature as “NH-6” can be rectified within a few weeks, why not act the same on the said wrong spellings on the signboards of the said National Highway, which are more important than the name plate of the highway?”

Not only, that, we, as the indigenous people of Jaintia Hills would be proud and happy to see the names of our places and localities, etcs displayed in a correct manner on the signboards of the said esteem National Highway, but also it would be of great help to the commuters, when they get to know and experience all the places and locations, etc. they cross over along the said National Highway” AJYWO’s President added.

“In the interest of all concerned, we demand from the GRIL to immediately rectify the wrong spellings of places and locations, etc. on the signboards erected along the NH-6, failing which, we would be forced to take up the matter with the higher authorities concerned”  M H Dkhar, concluded in the press statement.
