Shillong, March 13: The Organization All Meghalaya Dancer Association (AMDA) today send their memorandum to the Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma seeking recognition  from the state government , to recognized the association as Government funded body.

In the Memorandum, the organization satiated that , the Association, which is established in 2002, is the first of its kind in our State which facilitated a number of young budding talented dancers and singers without any financial assistance from the government till date.

it is a fact that this Association, in its small humble effort, has been able to send competitors from the State for the last decade to participate at the National Level competitions. It is our pleasure to state herewith that some of them have recently been selected to represent India at the International World Dancing Championship held in the United States of America.

But quite unfortunate to apprise you that 24 dancers from our State have been deprived of their chance to participate in a reality show competition dubbed as Thy Miracle Choir of Choice conducted by Raising Star Colour TV Channel on 4th Feb, 2017 due to fund constraints. It may also be mentioned that sponsorship could not be obtained whatsoever, in spite of all efforts made by our Association.

They also mention that , the Department of Arts & Culture has been approached and consulted in respect of the 4th February programme; but due to normal official procedures and time factor, the proposed sponsorship of the selected competing dancers has to be abandoned.

The Association feels that the time is right to set up an Institution in this aspect which will not only open up an avenue for our young talented youth but will also create job opportunities for the young educated unemployed youth. In this connection, the Association is capable enough to undertaken the responsibility in materializing the aims and objectives of such proposed institute. The proposed government-run Dances Institute would immensely benefit the talented youth hailing from the poor section of the communities in the State, as Private Institutions proved unaffordable for the majority.

The in the memorandum asked from the Chief Minister for a vehicles  for movements of the Association’s officials , the government should  earmark sufficient fund, well in advance, to be placed at the disposal of the Association, in order to sponsor competitors who are to participate outside the state. To sanction Financial Assistance to the existing Private Institutes dealing with developing different talents of the youth. To incorporate Dancing Lessons in the educational curriculum right from Primary Level up to Higher Secondary Level.
