Shillong November 07: The Emergency Medicine and Learning center (EMLC) of GVK EMRI, Meghalaya in Collaboration with the Government of Meghalaya, American Academy of Family Physician (AAFP) and Bethany Hospital organized a two days Advance life support in Obstetrics (ALSO) workshop on the 6th and 7th November 2017 at the conference hall of Bethany Hospital Shillong.
A total number of 35 Medical officers, Senior Medical officers and Staff Nurses from across the districts of East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, South West Khasi Hills, Ri Bhoi, West Jaintia Hills and East Jaintia Hills including Staff Nurses from Bethany Hospital, participated in the training.
The instructors include the faculty from American Academy of Family Physician (AAFP) included Dr E Ann Evensen, AAFP faculty, University of Wisconsin, USA, Dr.Nuzhat Aziz, Head of Department, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, Fernandez Hospital, Hyderabad, Dr. Bhavana Kasu, Consultant, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Rainbow Hospital, Hyderabad, Dr P N Ajitha, Consultant, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Calicut, Kerala and Advance life support in Obstetrics (ALSO) Instructors from GVK EMRI, Meghalaya and GVK EMRI, Hyderabad.
The Advance life support in Obstetrics (ALSO) is evidence-based multidisciplinary training programme that prepares maternity health care providers to better manage obstetrics emergency. ALSO evidence-based learning path bridges knowledge gaps and boosts skill sets using team based approach, hands-on training and mnemonics to reduce errors and save lives.
