Shillong, August 28: Project Director Dr M Mawthoh, reveal that, as recorded with the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society a government organization who has been entrusted to campaign to spread awareness among the people in the state how to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS, in form that to said that till june 2016, over 341 person die of AIDS.
Dr Mawthosh said that, out of this, 136 people die pre-ART and 205 people die on-ART. The MACS has taken up various form of awareness to every nook and corner of the state to tell people, how to stop this infection that spread from one person to the others in four different forms.
HIV and AIDS spread from one person to the others, through un-protective sex, through blood transfusion, Injecting drugs with the same needle, and through pregnant women. Dr Mawthoh said that as of now there is no medicines could core this infection, medicines that was given to people who are infected by HIV and AIDS is only to strengthen their immunes system.
As per record with the MACS, people who were infected by HIV and AIDS in the state is 2203, this record is till June this year, the East KHasi Hills District has the highest HIV and AIDS numbers who were infected and the lowest .
