Shillong, May 20: The AYWO expresses their shock, sorrow, and condemnation of molestation of one female A.chik by AYUSH Doctor. Like everyone else, they are searching for answers and trying to understand why and how this happened, and what caused it to reach this point. Their thoughts, prayers, and condolences are with the family of the victim and they are horrified by this action.
As proud A.chiks, they reiterate their commitment to peace, safety, and security of our tribe, as well as our solidarity with fellow A.chik, but they noticed that the Crime against women were escalating day by day.
The AYWO alleged that from the infamous ‘Nurul Islam case’ to sensational Rape Case by Step father. Keeping in view, AYWO reiterate our stand that the antecedents of outsiders’ needs to be check thoroughly and on the other hand AYWO would like to request all the local development committees as well as Youth clubs to be vigilant about the door to door hawkers as they might cease the opportunity when a female member of the house is alone for doing their crime.
To visit every household to sell his product by Non Tribals is neither legal nor logical. To do so, ‘Peddler’ license is a must and by merely obtaining “Hawkers” licence from Council doesn’t permit them to do so. Hawkers’ license is meant to do business in one place, not to visit every household.
They are doing with brisk profit and on the other hand, GHADC is in aloof about the activities and thereby losing its chunk of Revenue. So therefore the visitation of Non Tribals to every household is ILLEGAL.
AYWO urge all the Citizens of Garo Hills to be vigilant and aware about the laws to deal with this kind of Illegal businessman and woman.
