Shillong, April 29: The Achik Youth Welfare Organization (AYWO) today demanded from the police to day immediate step to arrest the dacoit who robes Mr Binoy Gosh three days ago at Gaptuli. The dacoits attacked the car of the BJP contestant from Phulbari, Binoy Ghosh, another prominent resident of the town, Uttam Das as well as Ghosh’s driver, Shibu Das, all of who managed to escape very narrowly.
Money, jewelry as well as their mobile phones was snatched by a group of 6 armed criminals. The AYWO condemned the act of dacoity while also asking for the set up of an anti dacoity camp in the same area to ensure such acts were not repeated in the future.
The NGO further sought close cooperation between the Phulbari and Tikrikilla Police Station as well as the Nidanpur outpost to avoid further cases of robbery or dacoity in the area.The area is used as a frequent route for illegal timber smuggling as it is close to the border of Assam.The NGOs condemn this incident and ask the police to quickly arrest the culprits to build confidence amongst the people in Phulbari,” added the NGO.
