BJP delegation lead by Mr Sanbor met urban affairs minister for exemption of MTCP Act 1972

Shillong, July 01: A delegation of the BJP lead by Mr Sanbor Shullai-MLA 19th South Shillong in a meeting held with the Minister of Urban Affairs, Mr Hamlet Dohling recently  requested the government for exemption of Meghalaya Town and Country Planning Act 1972 from administered areas and has submitted a Memorandum with a request to the Minister concerned to effectively take measures to exempt the Act from the ambit of the administered area.

In the events and ordinance is drawn.  The MLA has requested that the difficulty of the people residing within the administered area which is also a Scheduled area be taken into positive consideration for the welfare and interest of all the people living in 6th Scheduled Area which falls under the administration of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council.

While also drawing the attention of the concerned Minister to the applicability of the United Khasi Jaintia Hills (Establishment of Town Committee) Act 1960 to regulate permission for building construction within administered area and  Municipal area of Shillong city as per building bye laws and permission from the authority of the District Council.
