Business and entrepreneurship program was organized at Ampati SWGH District

Ampati, December 16: In a continued effort at creating awareness among the youth, self-help groups and EFC partners on self-employment business opportunities available under various schemes of the State government, a one-day Business & Entrepreneurship Programme was organized by South West Garo Hills Basin Development Unit at Ampati on Friday.

Hundreds of SHG members, EFC partners and youths from across the district participated in the day long programme and interacted with the resource persons on viable business and entrepreneurship options.

During the business session, IPO, DCIC, Ampati, T.R. Marak gave a deliberation on exploring business opportunities in non-farm sector like handicraft, tourism, retail business, service sector, etc and the various financial assistance being offered through the department for starting or expanding an enterprise. Assistant Professor, College of Home Science, Tura Dr. L. Hatai, highlighted on marketing strategy of horticulture and agricultural products; while Guest Faculty, RVTI, Tura, Ms. P.K. Sangma discussed about entrepreneurship opportunities in food business.

Later, successful entrepreneurs from the district, Sanding M Marak and B.A.Sangma gave a motivational talk to the entrepreneurs and shared their experiences of starting their own enterprises.
