Shillong, November 06: The Shillong Chapter of North East branch of Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists organized the 28th Annual conference, CUTICON NE States 2017 was held at NEIGRIHMS, Shillong.
The conference inauguration was held at NEIGRIHMS Auditorium . It was inaugurated by His Excellency Governor of Meghalaya, Mr. Ganga Prasad. His Excellency on this occasion highlighted the importance of such conference to share experiences by experts to their colleagues.
He said that the benefits gained from such conferences should reach to the farthest and poorest of our country. The director of NEIGRIHMS, Prof (Dr) D M Thappa was the guest of honour on the occasion. He himself being a Dermatologist shared his experiences with the delegates and other audiences. It was followed by T C Saikia memorial oration by Prof C. R. Srinivas.
The conference was attended by more than hundred delegates from different states of North East and experts from other parts of India, organized by president of the event – Dr Meera Wahlang and organizing secretary – Dr Binod Kumar Thakur.
Various eminent dermatologists like Prof M Ramam, AIIMS, New Delhi and Prof Laxmisha Chandrashekhar, JIPMER, Puducherry gave scientific deliberations which helped the dermatologists to update their knowledge and skill. Preconference workshop on Dermoscopy was also held which is a novel new technique to diagnose skin diseases.
The theme of the conference ‘Addressing the common skin diseases in a comprehensive way’ was to focus on the diseases which affects our population particularly of the North East region. The conference was a great success and achieved its goals.
