Shillong, May 13: The Citizens Foundation for Human Development (CFHD) send the petition through the President Mr. Banshai Marbaniang and the Genl. Secretary Mr. A. B. Nongbet to Mr P. S. Dkhar, IAS the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills District Meghalaya.
The president and the general secretary of the CFHD in the representation sent to the DC of East Khasi Hills said that, as per the information received that there will be a selection of Vendors and Vendees for the Border Haats in the State of Meghalaya in this month to implement in different locations.
The organisation demanding that the selection of Vendors and Vendees in previous years has been conducted without following the prescribed norms. Keeping this in mind from the organization, would like to reiterate the following points that the selection of Vendors and Vendees in Border Haats should be implemented as per Rules and Regulations of the Border Haat Management Committee vis-a-vis with regard to implementation of the said beings a locals residing within 5 kms radius of the Border Haat.
Vendors and Vendees background check should be conducted to ensure impartiality as well as to identify genuine locals and curb benami Vendors and Vendees in the Haat. The numbers of Vendors should be regulated at exactly 25 (Twenty five) and not more as had happened in previous years.
The CFHD also demanded that all selected vendees should displayed their names, Photos and vending license at their respective stalls to ensure genuine residents the area are given on opportunity to trade their wares.
The attendees to the Haats should be provided adequate parking space and clarity on the responsibility on collection of parking fees should be made clear at the outset.
A copy of petition has also given to the Chairman or Chairperson of the Border Haat Management Committee and the Syiems of those selected areas in which the Border Haats in the State have implemented to follow very strictly as per rules and regulations concerning towards this matter.
