Chennai City FC defeated Shillong Lajong, 6-1 in  I-League in Coimbatore

Shillong, Dec 30: Chennai City FC defeated Shillong Lajong, 6-1 in today’s I-League encounter in Coimbatore.

The home team broke the deadlock in the 12th minute after Néstor Gordillo found the back of the net after an assist by Sandro Rodríguez Felipe. They doubled the lead with a header from Roberto Eslava Suárez in the 38th minute.

Chennai continued to dominate in the second half and scored their third goal within just four minutes. Edwin with the through ball into the box and finds Pedro Javier Manzi who chips the ball beating the onrushing Lajong keeper.

Shillong Lajong finally responded back with their first goal of the game in the 53rd minute when skipper, Samuel Lalmuanpuia, converted from a free kick from 35 yards out which left the Chennai keeper with no chance in saving the shot from entering the net.

Nestor Jesus found his brace in the 69th minute after Edwin releases a through ball for the Spaniard to find the back of the net.

In the 79th minute, Pedro Manzi scored his second goal and completed the hat-trick in the 80th minute after he converted from the spot and the ball sailed to the bottom left corner of the net.

Shillong Lajong failed to secure any points and continue to struggle in the I-League table and will play their next game on the 4th of January 2019 against Neroca FC in Manipur.
