Community and Rural Development is yet to have its own Service Rules: Sniawbhlang

Shillong, April 05: The Meghalaya Minister in-charge Community and Rural Development, Mr. Sniawbhalang Dhar told the reassembled budget session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly  that the  Department is yet to have its own Service Rules and the Cabinet is yet to approve the draft rules of the Community and Rural Development  Department.

Responding to the issue raised during Question Hour by Mr. Kimfa Sidney Marbaniang MLA from Rambrai Jyrngam, who wanted to know whether this Department is  having its own rules and regulations for recruitment of officers and staff in the Department, Mr. Dhar told the House that the recruitment of officers and staff in the Department is done by the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) and the District Selection Committee and there are cases in which the staff have been appointed on contractual basis.

Mr. Dkhar also informed the House that all the Block Development Offices of the Community and Rural Development Department are being manned by 46 deputed MCSs except two offices, which are manned by an Agriculture and Horticulture Officers.
