Shillong, March 14, 2017: In view of the Night Road Blockade called by a conglomeration of Garo Hills based Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) on 14th and 15th March, 2017 from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM in the entire Garo Hills, the District Magistrate, West Garo Hills, Tura has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting assembly of 5 or more persons in public places, throroughfares etc, during the night, causing obstruction to the movement of vehicles, etc, and carrying and concealing on person of lathis, sticks, stones or any kind of lethal weapons, by any person, or group of persons or organization.
However, this order will not apply to armed force personnel or para military personnel and other law enforcing agencies on lawful duty or deployment. This order will come into force with immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders.
