Dr Mukul inaugurated GSU Office appreciated role of student bodies in the state

Williamnagar, September 17: In the inauguration of the Garo Student Uinon office the Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has commended the role of non-governmental organizations like the GSU, KSU, JSU, FKJGP and other civil-society organizations for their untiring service in the larger interest of the students and the State as a whole.

Inaugurating the newly constructed office of the Garo Students’ Union (GSU) East Zone at Williamnagar together with local MLA and  Education Minister Deborah C. Marak on Saturday, the Chief Minister said that the government has been able to resolve many issues in the state by jointly engaging in productive discussions. This has allowed functionaries in the government to focus on developmental works and therefore we are being able to see a turnaround in the state, he said.

“There is no space to waste time in conflict but engage productively for the overall good of the people of the state”, he said and appealed all civil society organizations to keep the interest of the society before everything so that all can grow and prosper together and particularly urged upon the GSU to continue to work in the interest of the students to ensure that they become productive men and women.

Stating that the existence of the Union was with a purpose, the Chief Minister urged upon the Union members to work with focus in partnership with the government on the important issues.

He cited examples of many good things that have happened in the past due to the ceaseless efforts of the students’ body – the establishment of NEHU Tura Campus being one of them – and expressed hope that this facility would go on to become the centre of many good things to happen to the people of the region.
