Dr Mukul laid the Foundation stone for construction of RCC Bridge over river Ildek

Shillong, January 06: The Chief Minister, Dr Mukul M Sangma today laid the Foundation Stone for construction of RCC Bridge No.19/2 over river Ildek, Adokgre on KDA Road in presence of Shri Cherak W. Momin local MLA Kharkutta, Brigady N. Marak MLA Bajendoba and Marthon J. Sangma MLA Mendipathar. Other dignitaries present on the occasion are SP D. P. Marak, North Garo Hills, ADC P.K. Boro North Garo Hills, Additional Chief Engineer G. Marak.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr Mukul M Sangma expressing happiness in laying the foundation for the RCC Bridge told the people that the bridge upon completion will bring a lot of changes to the region which has been evading the people for a long time as the project never took off in the last 20 years. The Chief Minister said that development of a region follows only with the construction of proper roads, bridges and communication, due to which only and only then a particular place can prosper in terms of everything.

Dr. Mukul Sangma expressed that the spirit of democracy is in fulfilling the aspirations of the people and in fulfilling the work for which one has dedicated one’s life too. He also said that the hope and visions of the people should never die and stick to one path because if there is no hope than one is vulnerable to negative forces. The Chief Minister also said that it is due to the improvement in various quarters namely in terms of law and order that people now can see developments taking larger strides and that one should not think narrowly but broadly in order to bring development to the region as the power lies within the people themselves which is best practise by not following the path of violence but that of democratic way.

Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma also talked and brief the people about the launch of the1917 Integrated Technology Enabled Agri Management System (1917iTEAMS), a ground breaking initiative of the Department of Agriculture, Government of Meghalaya, aimed at easing and enabling access to remunerative markets, information, crop advisories and agriculture related services for farmers, buyers, sellers and entrepreneurs of the state.

Addressing the gathering chief minister, Dr Mukul M Sangma said that the launch was a great moment for the government to empower the most important sections of the society, the farmers, who take care of the food and nutritional security and people who are often not attended to in a manner as they deserved. “The programme is a beautiful concept designed and conceptualised to empower our farmers and farming will no longer be the same again,” said the Chief Minister.The Chief Minister also mentioned the benefits of the Megha Health Scheme which is the first of its kind and also the plans of setting up Community Colleges in the State.

Among others who spoke during the Foundation Stone laying ceremony were are Cherak W. Momin and Brigady N. Marak. Cherak W. Momin local MLA mentioned about having exam centres in Adokgre which was not there before and students can now appear for their class X exams without having to go to Kharkutta. He also mentioned about the construction of school buildings in the area and various livestock missions.
