Shillong, September 28: The East Bengal defeat Shillong Lajong by 1-0 in the Semi Finals of the Bordoloi Trophy 2016 held today at the Nehru Stadium, Guwahati.
Today’s match was a thrilling one where both teams fought hard to advance to the Finals of the Bordoloi Trophy.
East Bengal took the lead in the 19th minute after their foreign recruit, Adileja found the net in the 19th minute. Lajong youngsters had many chances in front of goal but unfortunately could not find the equalizer. East Bengal had the experience and composure to ensure that one goal was enough to secure the place in the Finals against Three Star Club Nepal on 30th September.
Overall, Shillong Lajong youngsters displayed a commendable performance throughout the tournament and will return back home to play the second leg of the Shillong Premier League where they are currently undefeated and at the top of the table.
