Organisation of N.E appeal Govt to evacuate all the citizens in volatile areas in Manipur

Shillong, May 13: The eight student’s organisation from North eastern State base in New Delhi, jointly made an appeal on the ongoing unrest in the state of Manipur that has brought about a prevailing humanitarian crisis in the state is deeply concerning and calls for effective intervention by the state.

In the statement they stated that they are deeply anguished by the many lives that have been lost, the many that have been rendered homeless and the many that are now struggling for access to essentials needs as results of the violent conflict that has erupted in our sister state of Manipur.

The eight organisation denounce the central and the state governments for their failure to act promptly before the situation escalated beyond control. The great distruction that has been brought upon the state and its people could have been prevented had the state acted expediently.

However, going forward, they remain hopeful that the concerned governments shall act appropriately with the requisite promptitude to safeguard the people. They appeal to the concerned governments to take immediate measures to absolutely prevent any further loss of lives and destruction of properties.

They urged the government to evacuate all the citizens in volatile areas, ensure easy access to basic facilities for those lodged in shelters, and to ensure rehabilitation of all the affected persons/families as expeditiously as possible.

They are greatly offended by some sections of the media fraternity who have indulged in publishing false narratives about the situation. The media, they believe, can make or unmake a society, and they call upon the media fraternity to refrain from propagating misinformation/contorted narratives but rather act as the bridge between people.

Above all, they call upon all the interested parties to exercise great restraint and to work towards restoring peace in the state, for the sake of the present as well as the future that may be.
