Export Promoters and officials of Agriculture, visited food industrial units, of Maharashtra

Shillong, July 02: The Directorate of Horticulture, Department of Agriculture has been sponsored by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, for conducting exposure visit to various food industrial units, integrated pack houses, export hub and cold storage facilities in the State of Maharashtra.

The main objective of the programme is to strengthen the technical and managerial skills on export requirement through onsite visit. In this regard, the Directorate of Horticulture, Meghalaya in collaboration with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Guwahati, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India and Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Mumbai, Ministry of Commerce & Industry.

The Government of India has conducted a three days exposure trip programme for a team of seven members which included three officials and four APEDA registered exporters to IFC, irradiation and VHT facility and Pack house at Vashi, Navi Mumbai, Shahyadri Farms, Nashik, Regional Plant Quarantine Station office/laboratory at Sewree, Mumbai and Centre for perishable Cargo at International Airport, Mumbai from 25th – 27th June, 2019.

The team has reported that through this programme they have been exposed to various new techniques and witnessed various procedures that has to be adopted for exporting as per different regulatory requirements mandated by the importing countries.
