Festival of Womanhood celebrated in Lady Keane College as part of International Women’s Day

Shillong, March 31: Festival of Womanhood celebrated in Lady Keane College as part of International Women’s Day. The Women Cell of Lady Keane College celebrated the “Festival of Womanhood “ on 29th March 2018.

The celebration is part of International Women’s Day in honour of Women Street Hawkers, the real grassroot entrepreneurs who work under challenging circumstances to earn their livelihood to support their families.

The highlights of the festival was food stalls by street hawkers, a self- defence skills demonstration by Happy Red rooster MMA, a musical treat by all female band, Haystack Ladies, Photography Exhibition of Street hawkers and a signature campaign.

The festival was declared open by the Principal Dr C Massar and Chairperson, Women’s Right Commission, Mrs Theilin Phanbuh. Some of the women hawkers , Phidashisha and Sruti remarked that they were humbled by such a grand arrangement made for them and that they were grateful that they could sell their products.
