Food items in the Border area under Ranikor Constituency running short: AKHAF

Shillong, The country-wide Lockdown declared by the Government of India and in response to the clarion call made by the Prime Minister the state Government of Meghalaya from time to time made announcement that people should cooperate in fighting against Corona Virus in the state.

Mr John D Sangma general secretary of the All Khasi Hills A,chick Federation (AKHAF) said that the citizens residing in the remote border areas under the 35- Ranikor Assembly Constituency are strictly following the advisories and restrictions imposed by the competent authority.

As the declaration of Lockdown under the present circumstances is the only solution to stop the transmission chain of the Pandemic Covid-19, which is laudatory and praise worthy and in accordance with the curfew order people are mandated to stay indoors.

The general secretary of AKHAF said that it is the authority concern are to make necessary arrangements for transportation, supply and distribution of essential commodities via PDS, Grocery shop etc but the people of the border area are yet to see light of day as the essential are not arrived and distributed amongst the needy and beneficiary.

The General secretary of the AKHAF said that if the authority fail to take stock of the situation immediately that will be hunger and death and the very idea of Lockdown will be defeated as people will be out in the street and in the open for forage, searching for food for survival.

On behalf of the people of the 35-Ranikor Constituency Mr John D Sangma urged the State Government on behalf of Border residing and in the needy areas to  ensure that people living in the border area get essential commodities as of now the area is running short of food items.
