Shillong, March 12: The MCIC in collaboration with the Managing committee of the MLNSS organized Foundation stone laying ceremony on the 11-03-2017, for construction of New School Building of the MADAN LABAN NEPALI SECONDARY SCHOOL and the foundation stone was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr Sanbor Shullai MLA.
The project of this new school building will be constructed under Supporting Human Development Scheme sanctioned and funded by Asian Development Bank at the total cost of Rs. 1,60,000,00/- recommended by the local MLA Mr Sanbor.
In his speech said the selection for this new school building was that 95% of students hail from an economically weaker section of the society and he appreciated and lauded the sustain efforts of all former and present founder members and teacher’s since the inception of the school during the year 1957, he has also said that last year many students have excelled in various examination and the school has created historic moment were Mr. Som Bahadur Thapa a poor BPL student secured 15 position in general list of Class X, MBOSE examination 2016.
Mr D. P Wahlang Commissioner & Secretary education department during his speech said that the new school building will be a great opportunity for the school to upgrade and enhance the standard of the school at par with other schools and it will also attract more students to enroll themselves in the school where training will be conducted among teachers with an opportunity to have a new system of teaching standard, he also said that the school building will also have a SMART CLASS ROOM and other Govt. Assistance after the completion of the school building.
The function was presided over by President of the school Shri A. R Chettri and the brief report was given by Head Master cum Secretary Shri T. B Chettri which was attended by Shri Ricky Shullai-MDC, Superintendent of PWD Building, members of Dorbar Shnong, Seng Teilang Ki Kynthei, Teachers, Students and local NGO’s.
