Illicit trafficking of drugs is an evil in our society:Dubey

Shillong, June 26: The Sentinels of border celebrated the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking as an expression of its determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse. The day as an event is celebrated worldwide with much conscious fervor to make people aware and emphasize the hazards of drug addiction and illegal trafficking.

The BSF is determined to fight against the menace of drugs and in this connection organized a huge rally consisting of BSF personnel and students of BSF Senior Secondary School Umpling, in ten kms stretch in areas of Nongmynsong and NEGHRIHMS. The rally was flagged off to spread awareness among the people of Shillong against the Drug abuse and it’s illicit trafficking from Ftr HQ BSF. The Students in huge number participated in this campaign with banners and hoardings.

BSF Sr Secondary School students also performed the street plays against the Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking to spread the awareness.Astonishing lectures were also delivered by BSF expert doctors Dr. Ashish Majumdar and Dr. Wilson Kasum Hung. They also clarified the doubts of the students and jawans in order to fight this menace. An essay competition was also organized in which ASI (RM) Sudir Singh, Constable  Md Ziaul Haque and Constable  Niten Bardewa won the prizes. Hundreds of BSF personnel and students participated in spreading awareness against the drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking in the society. Similarly several programs were also organized along the border at BOPs and other BSF headquarters in Meghalaya state.

Addressing a gathering during the observation of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at Umpling, BSF, Meghalaya Ftr Shri Pawan Kumar Dubey, Inspector General Meghalaya Ftr said that drug trafficking, once viewed largely as a social and criminal problem, has transformed in recent years into a major threat to the health and security of people and regions. This year’s International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is an opportunity to highlight the importance of addressing these twin threats through the rule of law and the provision of health services. Substance abuse and the illicit trafficking of drugs is an evil in our society and disorientation among a majority of the youth. He advised the troops of BSF to stay away from addiction to drugs and help others to fight against drug abuse. We all should try to stop essence and bad evil in the force and have to take out bad nuisance as it may lead to peril of life and family.
