In the next four days Govt of Meghalaya will bring back the remaining 165 stranded in Manipur

Shillong, May 06: The Government of Meghalaya has made an arrangement to bring back the 165  stranded students of Meghalaya who are still there in Manipur, this come four days travel arrangements are also being arranged, on 7th of May, 50 students and citizens will evacuate, on the  8th of May, 70 students and citizens, on the 9th of May, 30 students and citizens and on the 10th of May, 15 students and citizens.

Special flights from Imphal to Shillong is being arranged by the Government of Meghalaya to bring our students back at the earliest. The Government of Meghalaya under the leadership of  Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K Sangma took proactive steps in response to the building unrest in the state of Manipur.

A review meeting was held on the 4th of May 2023 to review the situation and to ensure students are brought back safely to Meghalaya. The Chief Minister has instructed officials to make no compromises on students’ safety and directed them to initiate the evacuation process by arranging flights to bring them back home.

The CMO booked the flights for the students and with coordination between officials of Government of Meghalaya & the Indian Army, the students have been and will be escorted from their place of stay to the Imphal Airport.

On the 5th of May, 66 students reached Guwahati Airport safely by Alliance Air organized by the Government of Meghalaya on directions by the Chief Minister, On arrival at the Guwahati Airport the students were provided food and transportation and was arranged for their return. On 6th of May, 17 students arrived safely at Guwahati Airport

Government of Meghalaya has kept 2 officers have been deputed by the Government of Meghalaya to travel and stay in Imphal to oversee the transfer of students and citizens from the state and arrange for local support for safe travels for the students.

Transport Department is arranging vehicles for students and citizens arriving at Guwahati Airport and the Government of Meghalaya is also arranging food on arrival daily at the airport.

The Government is in touch with the students in Manipur to monitor the situation and provide them with every assistance for their safe return. The Chief Minister took another review this afternoon to check on the updates of the return of students.
