In view of a positive COVID 19 case detected in EKH district, total curfew imposed in SWGH

Ampati, April 15: In view of a positive COVID 19 case detected in East Khasi Hills district and to prevent it’s spread, South West Garo Hills District Magistrate Ch. Ramakrishna has under sec 144 CrPC read with Regulation 3 of the Meghalaya Epidemic Disease, COVID 19 Regulations 2020 has imposed total curfew in the whole of the District with immediate effect and until further orders.

The district magistrate has ordered the complete closure of all liquor shops, bonded warehouses during the curfew and prohibited inter district and interstate vehicular movement without valid car passes. The prohibition also includes operation of all public transport, weekly markets, and regular markets, commercial and financial establishments in the district.

However, the prohibition will not be applicable to essential service providers including pharmacies, banks, ATMs, MePDCL, PWD, PHE, agriculture and animal husbandry activities, Security, Food & Civil Supply, FCI staff, media, telecom, IT, postal services and vehicles carrying medical and essential supplies.
