Intense action witnessed on Day 2 of AR 26th Senior National Wushu Championship

Shillong, October  11: The kicks, grapples and punches were exhilarating to watch on the second day of the Assam Rifles 26th Senior National Wushu Championship here today.

The intensity of the sanshou (sparring) bouts was contrasted with the grace and precise movements of those taking part in taolu (form). All the events were held at the Assam Rifles Sports Complex in Laitkor.

In the preliminary sanshou bouts, Probison Bey of Meghalaya defeated Lakshya Soren of Jharkhand in the below 60kg category, though Bey’s team mate Alex Basaiawmoit lost out to Mukesh Choudhery of Rajasthan in the below 70kg category.

Two members of Assam Rifles, Lalhnehzawa (below 60kg) and Laltlanhlua (below 80kg) also won their preliminary bouts. The partial results are until 5:00pm.

Day three’s action is expected to be as enthralling as that of today, with the best wushu artists of the country progressing further into the tournament.
