Khrawsing Christian College, Mawngap observed the 71st Independence Day

Shillong, August 16: For the first time Khrawsing Christian College, Mawngap observed the 71st Independence Day Celebration of India on 15th August 2017 at the college premises. The function started with the hoisting of the national flag of India by Rev. W. F. Iawphniaw, Executive Secretary Mawphlang Presbytery followed by the singing of the national Anthem.

On this day several songs and skits were performed by the students including the cultural programme in which cultures of different communities of India were presented. Dr. Rusievan Shangpliang the  delivered a talk related to the India’s struggle for Independence citing the Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar (1919).

Dr. Rusievan in his speech remind us that the unity of Indian irrespective of their religion and classes during that particular period related to the incident disturbed the mindset and approach of the British colonial regime towards the Indian masses.

He stresses that while observing the freedom struggle, we should kept in mind that not only the leaders have sacrificed their lives but the general masses also has contributed enormously hence deserved to be remembered. Principal Dr. Mrs B. Kharkongor also addressed the occasion band it was concluded with the benediction by Rev. P. Thabah, Member Governing Body.
