Shillong, Nov 30: The Khasi Student Union of West Khasi Hills District today submit memorandum to the Health Minister Mr AL Hek urged the Government to set up Sub Health Centre at Langpih and Nongkhnum area of West Khasi Hills.
In the memorandum the KSU mention that setting up of newly constructed Sub-Centres at Langpih and Nongkhnum are highly essential. Langpih Area bordering Assam deserve a proper health centre catering the needs of rural villages at the border and Nongkhnum.
The KSU also urged Health Minister to upgrade the Primary Health Centre at Kynshi, Myriaw, Pariong and Markasa to one combine Community Health Centre in Mawthadraishan Block also deserves immediate action as the population of these area increases from time to time and number of patients keep on increasing every day in which better health care facilities is indeed required.
The number of Beds in the said PHC are less so it needs to increase number of beds and extension of builings and facilities to the Primary Health Centre of Maweit, Nonglang, Shallang and Rambrai as these health centres are catering to the needs of rural people which are far from the District Headquarter Hospital.
In The memorandum they have pointed out also on the sanction of posts for speedy commencement of the Nursing College and Maternal and Child Health Hospital at Nongstoin needed immediate attention and action since the Nongstoin Civil Hospital at present is over crowded.
With increasing number of patients, while man power or human resources are less as expected. Hence, in the meantime to increase the man power at the District Medical and Health Office the Union urge upon your honour to immediately appoint the Maternal & Child Health Officer in the District.
The Laitdom Sub Centre and Mawlangkhar Sub Centre under Mairang and Mawthadraishan Block respectivelycompleted construction of building but are not in operation since completion of the buildings till date. The Union urge your honour to kindly look into the matter immediately as these centres are ready to operate with necessary actions taken.
The current functioning of the District Hospital at Nongstoin is not up to the expectation in relation toavailability, accessibility and quality. The staff strength, equipment supply, service availability and population coverage are not uniform.
The KSU remind the Minister during his time and again demanded immediate action for appointment of Radiologist or Sonologist to operate Ultrasound and X-Ray. Operationalize of ICU, OT and various wards with Central Oxygen Line are highly essential.
The Endoscopy and Laparoscopy equipment to be installed at the hospital. The Blood Bank is ready to operate at Nongstoin and hence the appointment of Pathologist (MD), Blood Transfusion Medicine (MD) doctors and additional staff is required and to appoint specialties doctors of Orthopaedic Surgeon, Psychiatrist, Ophthalmologist, MD Medicine, ENT for service availability to the public.
The District Hospital at Nongstoin as per the Indian Public Health Standards deserved continued upgradation to keep pace with the advances in medical knowledge, diagnostic procedures, storage and retrieval of information.
The KSU demanded extension and sanction of additional buildings for the construction of Administrative Block Cum Outdoor Patient Department (OPD), Medicinal and General Stores, Emergency and Casualty Services and Physical Therapy& Rehabilitation Centre.
The Auditorium Cum Library which was estimated in 2017 to construct in the Deputy Commissioner Complex at Nongstoin under the Arts & Culture Department has not been materialised and sanctioned until now.
The District Library, pathetically, is sad to look at the condition of the small and so to say out-dated Library at the heart of the District Headquarter, they also asled the minister to see for completion of the Auditorium is highly required to look into the matter for the welfare of all.
