Shillong, March 15: The Khasi Student’s Union (KSU) lodge a complaint with the Chairman of theCouncil for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) base in New Delhi to take legal action against Mr Manjir Ghosh the author of the “ISC Sociology” for Class XII.
The complaint letter sent by the Khasi Students’ Union stated that, the Central Executive Council through this letter would like to convey its strong resentment and dislike against a book that is being used which is title as “ISC Sociology” for Class XII written by Manjir Ghosh and published by Kalyani Publishers.
The KSU pointed out that the book has misinformed and misleads the students and the general public about the culture and tradition of the Khasi Community. That the facts stated in the book about Khasi customs, marriage and practice is entirely erroneous and flawed which has created mayhem in the Khasi community and such untrue facts which has hurt the sentiments of the Khasi Community are condemned by the Union and the Khasi Community at large.
Thus, the Union seeks your intervention and support in this regard and to Discontinue the use of the said book all over the ISC Board in the country as such facts which are stated in the book gives a wrong notion about the culture and practices of the Khasi Community and degrade the character of Khasi women in the rest of the country.
The KSU urged the Chairman of the CISCE to direct the Kalyani Publishers to halt all circulation of the said book with immediate effect and also direct the publishers to issue a public clarification about the inappropriate facts stated in the said book about the Khasi Community which has been circulated in public domain.
The KSU asked to take legal action or any other action against the author Manjir Ghosh who has written the said book which contains highly objectionable contents and false information against the Khasi Community without verify the facts from reliable sources.
