Lack of development in most parts of Meghalaya show the failure of Dr Mukul govt:Mr Conrad

Shillong, October 10: The National PrMr Conrad K Sangmaesident of National People Party and Tura Lok Sabha MP Mr Conrad K. Sangma addressed a meeting of the block committee at Tikrikilla in West Garo Hills, Meghalaya to mobilize the party workers in the run-up to the 2018 election and sensitised the people on how Congress led government has failed to fulfill the promises to the electorates.

Prominent leaders who attended the meeting including Former Minister Manirul Islam Sarkar, MDC Augustine Marak and a host of district and block leaders.The public of the area apprised the leaders on the poor road condition from Tikrikilla – Phulbari – Rajabala – Garobadha route and sought his intervention.He informed the gathering that he has already taken up the matter with the centre and would initiate further steps to improve the road condition in the plain belt area, which is the lifeline of the people.

“We will pursue with the central government to declare the road as National Highway, so that the people would benefit from good road communication. In failure of a good road link, the people of the plain belt have to suffer and administrative delivery and functioning of government offices becomes difficult”, he added.He also blame Dr Mukul Sangma led government for the failure for lack of development in most parts of Meghalaya.

“The state government has failed to fulfill the aspiration of the people of Meghalaya and Garo Hills in particular. The government makes hollow claims but the reality is all before our eyes to see. We have to ensure that in the next year’s election, we would choose a party, which will not make only promises but would deliver”, said Conrad Sangma.

He informed the crowd that the party would come up with a report on how Mukul government has failed to deliver in the run up to the election. “We want to sensitise the people and enable them to take a conscious decision before they decided to vote. In an age of technology and information age, people have to be empowered with information. We believe in transparency and accountability”, he said.

He said that NPP is committed for the welfare of the people of the region and would engage with centre to derive maximum benefits for the people of Meghalaya, so that wave of development reaches out to different nooks and conner of the state.

“The state government in the past five years has launched several programme, which are aimed to leverage upon the livelihood of the people. The projects looks beautiful in papers but in reality nothing has reached to the major chunk of the population”, Conrad said.Thousands of people attended the rally and pledged their support for NPP at the public meeting.
