Shillong, March 27: ”Lady Keane College, Shillong to Celebrate the Festival of Womanhood’ In the month of International Women’s Day with the theme of “The Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives”, the Women Cell of Lady Keane College honours women hawkers and vendors , the real grass root entrepreneurs who work under very difficult conditions to support their families.
This initiative envisages to provide a platform for these courageous women and celebrate their achievements and acts of courage with a “Festival of Womanhood” on 29th March 2018 (Thursday) at the Sports Complex, Lady Keane College, from 12 noon to 3 PM.
The festival will also have several stalls to promote these hawkers and vendors , a self defence skill demonstration to train them with necessary skills with the necessary skills to be safe, and a musical treat by an all- female band, Haystack Ladies. Alongside, there will be a photography exhibition of women hawkers and vendors of Shillong.
