Shillong, September 9: The Local MLA of South Shillong constituency, Sanbor Shullai today laid a foundation stone for construction of Market of Bishnupur-Kench’s Trace Shillong sanctioned under Urban Affairs department for an amount of Rs. 2, 39, 10, 000.
The market will have three floors and the ground floor will house the first organic market in the capital city while the top floor of the market will be used as a community hall.
Addressing the gathering, Shullai said, “This is a day to remember as the laying of the foundation stone for this market will soon be a source of livelihood to the people of the area.”He further said that the market will also provide employment to the youths.
“We will also form a committee to help speed up the construction work process,” he said adding that the market will also have a parking space for up to 16 vehicles.Shullai further informed that on September 16, he will be inaugurating an indoor stadium at Laban costing Rs. 3 crore. “This indoor stadium will become the biggest and tallest in Meghalaya,” he said.
Meanwhile, the EE of Urban Affairs department, R Budnah informed that the first floor will house a wet marker with 23 platform stalls, second floor with 15 shops and the third floor will house the community hall.
