Lt General Ahuja, GOC of 101 call on Dr Mukul, asked for a plot of land for late Major Manlun

Shillong, August 12: The Lieutenant General DS Ahuja, General Officer Commanding 101 Area called on the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Dr. Mukul Sangma, at his office. During a fruitful interaction which lasted one hour, the General Officer discussed a number of issues with the Chief Minister to include Internal Security and Disaster Management.

In the meeting ist was also discussed on Intelligence Sharing and issues related to defence land encroachment. In addition large numbers of issues related to welfare of Ex-Servicemen were discussed. The General Officer Commanding also stressed upon the need for speedy processing of Ex-Gratia Payment cases by the State Government for martyrs.

The General Officer requested the Chief Minister to allow sale of a plot of land to the parents of late Major David Manlun, who laid down his life on 06 June 17 in the highest traditions of the Army while leading on operation resulting in the death of three militants in Nagaland’s Mon district bordering Myanmar. This would enable them to construct a house in the martyr’s name as the family is staying in a small rented accommodation.

The General Officer Commanding offered Army’s assistance in conduct of medical camps for remote villages in the hinterland. He also invited the Chief Minister to be the Chief Guest for a seminar on Energy Conservation which the Army is planning to conduct in the month of October. The Chief Minister kindly consented for the same.
