Mairang MDC told the Students, your success, obedience and respect, best gift to your teachers

Mairang, Sept 06: “Your success, your obedience and the respect you show is the best gift you can give to your teachers and that makes the hard-work they put in, worth it” said Chief Guest of the occasion, Shri Batskhem Ryntathiang, MDC Mairang Constituency, while addressing the gathering of Teachers and Students in a Teachers’ Day Celebration on Thursday at Mairang.

The function was organised by The Office of the Sub – Divisional School Education Officer, Mairang in collaboration with The Child Development Project Officer, ICDS Mairang at Mairang Presbyterian Higher Secondary School.

Mr Ryntathiang further said that in this day and age everyone is knowledgeable but very few have wisdom. He asserted “In order to not only be knowledgeable but to also be wise, my dear students, remember that knowledge comes from books but wisdom comes from God, hence we must first fear God and secondly we must live a respectful life”.

The occasion was marked with The Sub – Divisional Teachers’Award 2019 being awarded to Smt Twinsnolian Lawriniang from Pungsaniang Govt Lower Primary School, Smt Bandalinsha Marbaniang from Bynther Lower Primary School in the Lower Primary Category.

In the Upper Primary category the award was given to Smt Bahun Ryntathiang, Mairang Presbyterian Higher Secondary School Upper Primary Section and Smt Bhalen Lyngdoh from Langtor Upper Primary School. Shri Fabianrichfield Syiem from Mairang Presbyterian Higher Secondary School was the awardee from the Secondary Category and Smt Evangeline Ruth Lyngdoh from Langtor Higher Secondary School was the awardee from the Higher Secondary Category

Smti I. Slong, CDPO, Mairang gave the gathering an insight about Rashtriya POSHAN Maah and said that ‘Poshan’ stands for Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition and it aims to ensure holistic development and adequate nutrition for pregnant women, mothers and children while it targets to reduce level of under-nutrition and other related problems by ensuring convergence of various nutrition related schemes.

The Poshan Abhiyan targets to reduce stunting, under-nutrition, low birth weight and anaemia among young children, women and adolescent girls. He also mentioned that POSHAN Abhiyan was initiated by the Government of India and the purpose of the programme is to boost nutrition among children and women.

POSHAN Abhiyan is a flagship programme of the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), Government of India which ensures convergence with various programmes that is, Anganwadi Services, scheme for Adolescence Girls, National Health Mission among others.

Smti I Slong also informed that the month of September has been marked as the Nutrition Month which will be celebrated with different activities at different levels, districts, blocks and villages at Anganwadi Centres and urged one and all to take the opportunity by attending these programmes.

Also present in the occasion were Shri A Nongbri, SDO Mairang Civil Sub – Division, Shri RR Lamare, incharge  Sub – Divisional School Education Officer, Mairang who also chaired the programme, Principals and teachers of different schools within Mairang Civil Sub – Division.
