Meghalaya bag five Gold medals at the Muaythai National Championship 2018

Shillong, Nov 24: Mr Vikash Gupta,  Ward Commissioner Shillong Cantonment as the Chief Guest of a warm reception at the Hotel Assembly to the medalists of Muythai National Championship 2018 expressed his happiness that Meghalaya martial arts athletes are shining in the National Level as well as in some other International Arenas.

Meghalaya Junior and  Senior Team of Muaythai shines well at the Muaythai National Championship 2018 organised by United Amateur Muaythai Association of India (UAMAI) at Pathare Stadium, Pune Maharashtra that was held from 15th – 18th of this month, both  Junior and  Senior Men and Women has bag 5 gold medals, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals.

Narimon Nongrum below 38 kg 16-17 years junior category, Monica Nongrum below 63.3 kg senior women managed to bag gold medals while Ishadora Thongni below 45 kg 14-15 years junior category with silver medal. For boys and men events, Mightyson Nonglang below 48 kg 14-15 years junior category, Blaseibok Kharbuli below 45 kg 16-17 years junior category and Alfred Watklet Riahtam below 42kg senior men managed to bag gold medals

While Babit Kharsahnoh below 45 kg senior category and Dauni Nongrum below 54 kg senior category with silver medal. Evinstar Nongspung below 56 kg 14-15 year junior category snd Tonroi Suting below 51kg senior category had to be contended with bronze medals.

The winners in this Championship will be taken part in the International Event Calander 2018-19. Asian Muaythai Championship 2018 from 4th to 12th December. At Forum, Macau.World Muaythai Day 2019 on 17th Febuary, at Ayuththya, Thailand. Arafara Games 2019 from 26th April to 4th May 2019 at Australia.  World Muaythai Championship 2019 from 20th to 28th July 2019 at Bangkok, Thailand. World Martial Arts Mastership 2019 from 30th August to 2nd September 2019 at Korea. World Youth Muaythai Championship 2019 at Antalaya, Turkey.

The other 8 contenders from Meghalaya had to conceded defeat at the quarter final rounds only with Mordecai Kharpuri another strong contender at the semi final round due to injury in the spine in the quarter final level.
