Meghalaya BJP Minister written to Prime Minister to take step to protect Christian in India

Shillong, Dec 07: The Meghalaya BJP Minister Mr. Sanbor Shullai has written to the Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi  on the survey conducted by the Karnataka Government though the Directorate of Minorities Welfare of the Christian Community in the state.

Mr. Sanbor seek the intervention of the Prime Minister to a recent survey of the Christian community, Citing conducted by the Directorate of Minorities Welfare, Government of Karnataka citing it as data collection. It has been highlighted through social media that the Arch Bishop of Bangalore Shri Peter Machado has also objected to the survey.

Such survey of people with regards to religion is unconstitutional and doesn’t justify the religious freedom of faith. Any person who believes in any religion is by virtue of their birth or due to a belief or faith they tender upon any religion they feel compatible with.

Any individual who are taking law into their hands by taking advantage of the situation here by imposing distrust among the minority Christian Community in state of Karnataka is highly objectionable. Since India has global secular image such acts are definitely going to dent our image.

Thus, I request your honourable office to kindly take cognizance about the issue raised by the Arch bishop and also by other Christian Communities. Kindly ensure that the safety and security of Christians Community living in Karnataka and every state of India is protected.
