Meghalaya Govt decided to strengthen the entry and exit at the interstate border: Prestone

Shillong, June 24: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Mr Prestone Tynsong informs that Meghalaya government has directed the Chief Secretary to strengthen the entry and exit point in the interstate border with more stringent rules.

Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister said that maximum entry and exit of people from the state are mainly from Bajengdoba in Garo Hills, Byrnihat in Khasi Hills and Ratachera in East Jaintia Hills, strengthening of these three entries and exit point will start from tomorrow.

Deputy Chief Minister said that Meghalaya is the only state in India as of today that have only three COVID-19 active cases, people from outside Meghalaya who have their relative in Meghalaya would like to come to the state to stay with their relative or in form of a tourist.

To prevent entry of people from outside the state Government has taken this decision to have more stringent rules so that people will not come to the state to take shelters. Mr Prestone requested all concerns not to come to Meghalaya at this juncture.

The Meghalaya Government till date has not allowed interstate movement of people, there will be in place more stringent rules, Deputy Chief Minister requested all concern to please avoid coming to Meghalaya at this time.

State Government has also taken step to check people who are passing through the state that will not get down in Meghalaya while travelling from Meghalaya to others state. If anyone found please inform the nearest police station.
