Shillong, October 29: The Meghalaya Swimming Association (MSA) in the letter addressed to the Chief Engineer, State Sport Council of Meghalaya (SSCM) has reiterated its stand on the management of the Crinoline Swimming Pool, where the formalities regarding the handover of the crinoline poll has not been finalized till date, said Mr Joe Marwein president.
Mr Marweins aid that the effort of the MSA is to promote swimming activities in the state, and in the state capital there is only one government swimming pool that is Crinoline. Quoting what the minister incharge sport, the president of the MSA said that the minister himself said that the demand of the MSA is genuine one and that will not be proper for the government to commercialized Crinoline swimming pool.
The MSA in their letter sent to the Chief Engineer, SSCM mention that the term and condition are not clear which contradict to what the minister incharge sport said, the bond of contention in the rules what the MSA need clarity is that who will be responsible for any untoward incident that may occur in the pool premises.
From the MSA has asked the state sport council to implement a uniform sport policy in the state, similar to the management of U Tirot Sing Indoor Stadium in Shillong that run by the Badminton and Table Tennis Association and if this can be replicate with the Crinoline Swimming Pool to the MSA, said Mr Ian Khongmen.
From the MSA wish that the government should review the entire process and the Crinoline should hand over to the MSA who were responsible for the promotion of aquatic sport in the state. Mt Khogmen said that all the swimmers in the state earlier knows only one style of swimming that is , Dog Style but with the help of the MSA the swimmers in the state hove learn the different kind of stroke and Meghalaya have potential swimmer to compete even at the international level look from the recent swimming competition that they have participate.
