Meghalaya police rescued the minor girl from Jorhat, arrested Mr Pankaj who disappeared

Shillong, April 30: The police informed that on 4 March 2021, the parents of a minor girl reported at Madanrting Police Station that she had gone missing on her way to school.

Immediately, a kidnapping case was registered vide Madanrting PS Case No 2303)2021 US 363/365/368/370(4y1208 IPC and investigation initiated. It was suspected that the child was lured by one Shri. Pankaj Kumar Bharadwaj 22 years who had disappeared from the area.

The District Police swung into action to find his whereabouts as it was leant that be was in Guwahati (Assam), Darjeeling (WB). Siliguri (WB) and Dhubri (Assam).

Police teams in ench of these locations were activated and look our notices were sent to all police stations in India to apprehend the accused and recover the child, but all in vain Later, it was learnt that the absconding accused was being aided by his mother from the state of Himachal Pradesh.

A Police team from East Khasi Hills left for Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh 07.04.2021 to search for the minor pirl, Shri. Pankaj Bharadwaj and his mother Smti. Saraswati Devi. The team were able to apprehend Smti. Saraswati Devi in this operation but the accused and victim were not found.

Further investigation narrowed down the search to Jorhat of Assam . Again, on 30.04.2021 a team from the East Khasi Hills Police lef for Jorhat. In the search operation undertaken with the assistance of Jorhat police, they were able to successfully rescue the minor girl and arest the accused, Shri. Pankaj Kumar Bhardwaj.

The team is currently on their way back to Shillong with the minor girl and the arrested person who will be forwarded to court, said the Superintendent of Police East Khasi Hills District Mr. S.  Noagtager,lPS.
