Meghalaya Speaker Lays Foundation Stone for construction of Mairang Bye pass Road

Mairang, Oct 29: Meghalaya speaker today laid the Foundation Stone for the construction of Mairang Bypass under the Central Road Fund 2018-19 in a function held at Tirot Sing Memorial Hall, Pyndengumiong, Mairang.

Speaking on the occasion, the speaker, Shri M Lyngdoh, who was also the Chief Guestsaid that this road is not for the benefit of Pyndengumiong locality only but for the whole of Mairang Constituency.

He said the objective is not to only get the schemes but to ease the traffic within the area especially on Market days when the area becomes very congested and pose a threat to pedestrians in particular and the residents of Pyndengumiong as a whole.

Expressing his gratitude to the land owners, Lyngdoh said “I would like to express my respect and gratefulness to the 21 landowners who consented to part with portions of their land to make way for this road construction project without whose support this project would not be a success”

It maybe mentioned that the 2.375 km long road will be constructed under the CRF 2018-19scheme at a cost ofRs 8.64 crores. The road will take off from Mawsawa near the office of the SDO (C) Mairang and will terminate near the Mairang C&RD Block Office. The construction will be undertaken by M/S RLT Constructions.

HB Nongsiej, Minister Water Resources etc who was also the guest of honour in the occasion, Shri R Lyngdoh Tongkhar, Chairman, MIDC, Shri LD Suchiang, Chief Engineer PWD (Roads) Meghalaya, Shillong and Shri. A Nongbri, SDO (C), Mairang Civil Sub – Division among others.
