Mr David MLA urged the farmer to adopt the modern method of livestock farming

Shillong, Dec 06:  As part of the National Livestock Mission 2017-18, the Office of the District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Officer, East Khasi Hills today organized a one Day Block Level Livestock Mela at Mawryngkneng village.

Mr  David Nongrum, local MLA graced the occasion as the Chief Guest in the present of Dr.  O. B. Basaiawmoit, Deputy Director AH & Veterinary, Dr. (Mrs) A. Laloo, District AH & Veterinary Officer, Smti P. Iawim, Horticulture Officer, Dr. D. Dkhar, AH & Veterinary Officer, Mawryngkneng C&RD Block and livestock farmers of the areas.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Nongrum emphasized the importance of livestock farming as a potential source of income in rural areas. For sustainable livelihood in livestock farming, Shri Nongrum urged the farmer to adopt the modern method of livestock farming for enhancement of production and income.

During the programme, the Chief Guest gave away the prizes to the outstanding farmers of Mawryngkneng C&RD Block.

The day long programme includes technical session followed by an interactive session. Stalls were also put up by the various Block Offices and local entrepreneurs for display and sale of dairy products at the Mela.
