Mr Sanbor met India’s representative to UNESCO to accord global recognition for kongthong Village

Shillong, March 07: The MLA of 19-Shillong South Mr. Sanbor Shullai met Professor J.S rajput India’s representative to the Executive Board in UNESCO at his residence in Greater Noida on 5th March 2021 and seek his support to accord intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO to kongthong village.

The MLA has also requested Professor J.S Rajput to visit kongthong village soon so that the village can get global attention. Professor J.S Rajput has assured to take the matter to UNESCO through the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.

In this regard Shullai also met MP from Rajya Sabha Shri Rakesh Sinha at his residence in new delhi and tender thank to him for adopting kongthong village. The MP from Rajya sabha has assured all possible help to kongthong village and has ensured that there will sustainable livelihood programme for self employment however not effecting the cultural heritage.

The MP also said that rest of country should learn from Northeast regarding secularism and giving equal opportunity to female gender. Shullai said that he has invited Both MP Rakesh Sinha and Professor J.S Rajput to kongthong for global Recognition.
