Shillong, January 17: the Hon’ble Court of Shri. Noor-Ain Khan (MHJS), Hon’ble Special Judge (POCSO) Jowai. On 15.01.2018 the judgement was delivered and Mr. Wanmi Lyngdoh residence of Muthlong village, West Jaintia Hills District was convicted for Sexual Assualt under Section 8 POCSO Act, 2012.
It is on 22.05.2015 an FIR was filed at Jowai PS by the mother of an eleven year old girl residing in West Jaintia Hills District, that her daughter was raped the previous day by one Mr. Wanmi Lyngdoh, 20 yrs.
The case was registered vide Jowai PS Case No. 98(5)15 U/S 4 POCSO Act 2012. The case was investigated by the O/C Women PS West Jaintia Hills, WPSI O. Tyngkan now Inspector and submitted her chargesheet on 03.08.2015.
The case was tried in the Hon’ble Court of Shri. Noor-Ain Khan (MHJS), Hon’ble Special Judge (POCSO) Jowai. On 15.01.2018 the judgement was delivered and Mr. Wanmi Lyngdoh residence of Muthlong village, West Jaintia Hills District was convicted for Sexual Assualt under Section 8 POCSO Act, 2012.
With this conviction Mr Wanmi will put to jail for a period of 3 years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 1,000/- and in default of payment of fine, the convict will further undergo simple imprisonment of 1 month, said the superintendent of Police West Jaintia Hills District in the press statement issued today.
