MTC employees agitation enter eight days today, State Govt remain adamant

The MTC employees agitation enter eight days of thier indefinite strike.Shillong, July 04: The workers of the Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) has gone for the indefinite strike in protest against the state Government decision to transfer Smti A. Nikhla just after nine month of taking charge as the Managing Director of the corporation and in her place the state government want to bring the Commissioner transport Mr P M Sangma.

The Employees of the MTC has started their indefinite strike from 27th June till today and the agitation has inter eight days today, but from the state government is still remain adamant to their demand without sending any intimation whether the government will agreed to their demand or the government will stick to the decision as notified by the personal department.

The General Secretary of the employees Union Mr K Rumnong told SP News Agency that they have met Transport Minister Mr HDR Lyngdoh and in the meeting the minister inform the union leaders that this was done from the office of the Chief Minister as a minister transport he is not aware since personal portfolios is with the Chief Minister.

The General Secretary said that they will continued with their indefinite strike till the state government come out with the clear information whether the government will reinstate the present Managing Director or they will go ahead with the appointment of the new MD in the MTC.

The employees of the MTC, they have closed down their entire counter both Bus ticket services, Rail Ticket services and   Helicopter service. From the Union they have submit their memorandum to the Government demanding that the present MD should be retain since she has taken over only nine month.
