NESO condemns the act of vandalism in the AASU office at Silapathar

Shillong, Marvh 14: The North East Students’ Organisation (NESO), comprising of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), Mizo Zirlai  Pawl (MZP), Twipra Students’ Federation (TSF), All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU), Garo Students’ Union (GSU) and All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) representing eight major students’ movements of the seven states of the North East Region condemns the act of violence and vandalism in the AASU office by a group of people and an organization at Silapathar.

The culprits must be nabbed immediately, and the guilty must be punished without any compromise.The people of the North East and the North East Students’ Organization is always with the indigenous people of Assam, and with the All Assam Students’ Union. NESO expresses its solidarity to the members of the AASU and to the people of Assam.

There is no question of taking the burden of post 1971 immigrants  Hindu Bangladeshis by the North East. NESO reiterates its firm stand on the issue of illegal migrants from Bangladesh and would like to convey the organization’s long standing demand that all the Hindu, Muslim Bangladeshis illegally entered into Assam and other North Eastern states must be deported.

Assam Accord must be implemented in true spirit, and NESO believes that the proper implementation of Assam Accord is the solution of the illegal migrants issue. NESO appeals for united movement by all the indigenous people of the region, for effective solutions of the burning problems of the entire North Eastern region lest we will be a minority in our own land.
