NGO’s in Garo Hills will not be part of the NCM call by the Solidarity Forum

Shillong, March 21: The conglomeration og NGO’s of  Garo Hills, namely the  FAF, GSU, ADE, AYWO and FKJGP said that they will not be part of the Non Cooperation Movement (NCM) that was call by the Solidarity Forum on the 23 and 34 of this month to protest against police firing to innocent people at Resu on the 19th of this month.

In the press statement issued today to the media house sign by all the NGO’s clarified that they have no  no knowledge about the NCM that was announced in  the meeting called by the Solidarity Forum on the 19th of March’17 at Resu, it was decided that because of the ongoing exams no NCM will be called.

In the meeting at Resu, it was generally accepted that any strong movement for justice for the victims ambushed by the police and for demand for stricter accountability of the police personnel who are overzealous in their duty thereby transgressing the fundamental rights of the civilians will be launched after the exams.

Suddenly, out of the blue, the Solidarity Forum without informing them it has taken a decision to launch the NCM. The NGO’s claim  that they were not informed of any meeting to launch the NCM and it has been called without their  knowledge. The press statement said that “We were dumbstruck when we saw the launching of the NCM in facebook and whatsapp without any prior information and discussion. We have received complaints from many quarters most importantly regarding the ongoing exams and workshops and the ongoing closure of the March Account”.

The NGO’s said that they will continue to fight for justice for the victims in other modes with strategies they deem fit and separately. In the press statement they said that “We are sorry to say that we will not be part of the NCM. We wish that the Solidarity Forum find justice for the victims”.
