NIDM organised five day training programme on long term recovery and reconstruction strategies

Shillong, May 30:The National Institute of Disaster Management(NIDM), New Delhi Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India in collaboration with the Meghalaya State Disaster Management Authority (MSDMA), Shillong organised a Training Programme on Long term Recovery and Reconstruction Strategies from May 30 to June 3 2022.

The training was held  at the Lecture Hall, Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute (MATI), Mawdiangdiang, Shillong. The Chief Guest at the inaugural function was Shri E. Kharmalki, Secretary Department of Revenue and Disaster Management, Government of Meghalaya.

The objective of the training programme is to provide an in-depth knowledge about various components of long term recovery and reconstruction policy and framework and importance of post- disaster damage and needs analysis.

Moreover, this programme will enable the participants to understand issues and challenges of housing, infrastructure and livelihood recovery, including psycho-social aid and gender issues in long term recovery and challenges.

This  widely recognised and practised principles in long term recovery and to contribute to the development of capacities, knowledge and skills of state government officials by means of developing disaster management plans and focusing on building back better concept. Earlier,  Dr Amir Ali Khan, Asst. Professor NIDM, New Delhi briefed the participants about the  program.
